Mandarin Tutor For Kids - Essential Benefits of Learning Chinese Through ChildrenA Mandarin tutor for kids is ideal for both students and parents who want to enhance the language skills of their children. It's not just the ability to speak Mandarin that is important but also to understand what it means to speak it fluently. Kids learn best when they have lessons in a structured environment. Some people get their Mandarin from their grandparents or parents, while others got it from Singapore. Whatever their age, the most important lesson of learning Chinese is to speak the language well. That's why it's so beneficial to have a tutor come to your child's class so that he can learn to speak Mandarin, instead of relying on the children themselves. When your child starts to learn the language, he is more likely to grasp its rhythm, rhymes and syntax. For that reason, it's even more important to teach him how to speak the language correctly. With the help of a Mandarin tutor for kids, you ca n allow your child to speak the language simply and naturally. One of the most important aspects of learning any language is to build the vocabulary and develop an understanding of how words are used. For example, a single word may mean a million different things. With the help of a tutor, you can help your child learn the differences between each word so that he will understand the idea behind each word and will also develop a strong vocabulary. Some parents want their kids to learn Mandarin, but don't have the time or money to spend on such a program. For this reason, there are other resources that are affordable for everyone. A great way to help your child learn Mandarin is by hiring a tutor for kids.If you can afford it, do you really want to learn your own language with someone else? The primary reason for having a tutor for kids is to be able to make sure that your child knows the language well. This way, they won't make mistakes when speaking the language in front of you.In gen eral, you can be assured that your child will learn how to speak the new language without being stressed about it. A tutor for kids is usually affordable and can be found online. With the right tools, it's very possible for your child to learn Mandarin for free.
Science Regents Review
Science Regents ReviewIf you're in high school, your chemistry regents review will be conducted in less than a month. You've probably made it through this part of the course with flying colors. Unfortunately, for those of us who struggle with the concepts that most students learn in high school, our regents review can seem far less eventful. To be fair, everyone has a different approach to the lessons that are the most important in science courses, and when you think about it, chemistry regents will be no different. Even so, if you're not making good progress, it's time to consider ways to speed up your work.First of all, don't try to think that you need to go back and re-read material that was covered in class. The best way to get things moving is to look at what you're already learning, and then see what else you could do with it. Do some research on topics that interest you, or make a list of things that you want to learn more about.Second, look at what you're already doing. If you 're studying in class, keep track of where your notes and assignments are and look over them. When you're doing homework, pick a book or lesson plan that's easiest for you and start with it.Third, be sure to use your study materials. If you're just using a book as a supplement, don't assume that everything that you've learned in that book will be transferable to the classes that you take in college. Finally, if you can't do something you want to do, don't worry about it. No matter how much effort you're putting into a science class, it's never easy to get everything done. As long as you're taking action in whatever you're trying to accomplish, you should be able to keep making progress.Don't lose sight of the reason that you took this course in the first place. Don't force yourself to work too hard or to make too many mistakes just because you don't know how to make things happen, you'll end up frustrated will be bad at everything you do.

What is it Like to Attend Northern Kentucky University
What is it Like to Attend Northern Kentucky University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Christina is a New York City tutor and 2012 graduate of Northern Kentucky University. She holds a Bachelors degree in Marketing and specializes inMandarin Chinese tutoring. Check out her review of her alma mater: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or safe is the campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Christina: It is not so urban, although I can get to downtown Cincinnati within less than 10 minutes. I would say it is a safe campus. I had a car when I was in school, because I lived 20 minutes away. There are 2 bus stops at our campus, and there are shuttles that take students from campus to their dorms. If you live close enough you can actually ride a bike to school. VT: How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Christina: All the professors would have open hours at least 2 days per week for students to stop in and ask any questions or get help on the subject; we could also make an appointment if the open hours did not fit in our schedule. At the beginning and the end of semester, we needed appointments with the advisers because those are the most busy times, and other than that, walk-ins are available to students. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Christina: I lived at home all through my 4 years in college, so I didnt really experience dorm life. But from what I have heard from my friends, most of them liked it. They might not have the healthiest food, but they do have nice amount of variety, and most of our dorms are very close to campus. Only one of them is a little further but still within walking distance, and students are able to take the shuttles. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? Christina: At Northern Kentucky University, the Business program is one our best programs. We have a pretty good Nursing program and Law School also. I have a Bachelors degree in Marketing. I just thought Marketing would be fun since I would be able to be creative, study what the current trend is, learn what consumers want, and understand how to market to target consumers. I think our school is doing a good job supporting our Business program. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Christina: Actually, it wasnt hard at all. For the first 2 months, I was kind of just by myself, mainly because I wasnt really trying to meet people. But then I made one friend and she introduced me to a few others, and I ended up knowing a lot of people and making a few really good friends. I was not involved in Greek life, so I am not so sure about that, but there are a lot of students involved in it. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? Christina: It was very helpful. They were able to help me to build my resum and cover letters for all the Career Fairs. There are a lot of reputable companies that recruit at the Career Fairs on our campus. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Christina: I had great experiences with our libraries and student union. The student union really is our favorite hang-out place on campus; I got to meet most of my friends there. I preferred to study in the library than anywhere else. I could always find available areas to study. I could also rent out laptops if I forgot my own. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Christina: Downtown Cincinnati is less than 10 minutes away from us. There are baseball games and football stadiums, as well as a lot of restaurants and pubs. We are right by the Ohio River. Most students go to the downtown area instead staying near campus. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Christina: Most of our classroom sizes are between 25-30, so it is a lot easier for us to connect with the professors. I prefer smaller class sizes. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Christina: I was taking a 400 level Management class last summer. I worked hard in that class, and the professor actually noticed that. At that time, I was looking for an internship and my professor happened to talk to the person in charge of the Marketing Internship department about how good of a student I was I got an internship a week later. The head of the Marketing Internship department had highly recommended me to this company and I was so grateful. Check out Christinas tutoring profile. How To Use Career Strategies like the Pros! - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / How To Use Career Strategies like the Pros! - Introvert Whisperer How To Use Career Strategies like the Pros! âWinners donât do different things, but they do the same things differentlyâ Anonymous Often I come across people talking and discussing success. And often I even come across companies and trainers cashing in by coming up with weird concepts such as, âFind success with our 5-day training seminarâ âSuccess will chase you once you become a part of our academyâ. If only it was actually this easy to achieve success, I donât think anyone in the world would have any failures at all. The important thing to understand here, however, is that there is no short cut to success. Then again one important factor to take note of here will be that success could have different meanings for different people. And as much as one would like to stick to a book and gain success overnight, the truth is that success like everything else comes to those who: Work for it Have patience Donât go looking for shortcuts Like I said before, there are no shortcuts to success and no definite recipe that one can follow to reach it. What can be done however is to religiously work your way up by following a set pattern of career strategy that will help you get closer to whatever the definition of success is for you? So, brace yourself and get ready to hop onto the bus that will take you to your final destination of SUCCESS!
Colleges Offering Tuition Guarantees
Colleges Offering Tuition Guarantees In attempts to attract prospective students, many colleges across the nation are promising incoming freshmen that their tuition rates will not rise during their four years in college, according to an article in The US News World Report. All public universities in Illinois and several other public and private colleges throughout the nation are locking freshmen tuition rates. However, these schools are raising separate fees such as housing, meal plans and other various costs. Also, these colleges are increasing the tuition rates that each incoming freshmen class will pay, without changing the tuition for returning sophomores, juniors and seniors. Students and parents will save an estimated $5,000 by attending a four-year college that locks tuition, according to the article. Colleges are implementing these tuition guarantees because they are in strict competition with each other to boost enrollment. When colleges compete over students, costs tend to decrease. Students and parents still need to pay close attention to college tuition rates because most universities revenues are down due to the tough economy. Some colleges are luring freshmen in with tuition locks and guarantees; however these colleges are dramatically increasing the tuition rates for each incoming freshman class. Some of these tuition spikes are so significant that students and parents actually pay more for attending a certain college that boasts tuition guarantees. Students and parents need to closely analyze the tuition and other costs of attending college because financial administrators at colleges can skew the tuition and other costs. Universities will offer tuition guarantees and large amounts of financial aid to appear cost-effective. However, students can still overpay for college, compared to other schools. The US News World Report stated that the public universities in Illinois are very affordable because they are not deceiving students with their tuition guarantees by overinflating tuition. Traditionally, these tuition guarantees only apply to four-year degrees. Students who attend college for five or more years will not have their tuition locked after their fourth year.
Study Strategies for Science
Study Strategies for Science Chromosomes? Chemical equations? Laws of motion? Say what? If science isnt your strongest subject, you may fear these terms but thats not necessary! With with a few good study strategies, you can train yourself to become much more comfortable with science, and in turn, develop a stronger aptitude for it. 1. Know your way around text features Do you ever look at the students who are naturally good at science and realize theyre often pretty good at math, too? Thats no surprise, considering the skills involved in math are actually very similar to those needed in science. Science is largely about reading the data which, yes, means youll have to face numbers, equations, and charts/graphs. Familiarizing yourself with these features, however, means you wont feel as bogged down during class, homework, or readings to relearn how to use them. Establish how youll record data. If you are in a science lab or doing an experiment in class, the first step to analyzing your data is to make sure youre recording the data in a way that makes sense to you. This doesnt just mean taking notes clearly or tracking all the information you can, but it includes organizing the numbers in a way you personally understand. Your data should be concise and clearly labeled for later reference. Understand the specific types of data. If the data is provided to you, dont even start looking at the numbers until you look at the labels. You need to understand what the data is going to tell you before you begin trying to analyze it. Dont be afraid to rewrite the data in your own notes or even consider talking the data through out loud. Both of these tricks can help you slow down your thought process to gain a better understanding. 2. To fully understand the topic, put in work before and after class If you limit your efforts to your 55-minute class every other day and nothing else, you may have a tougher time refining your science skills. To better understand abstract concepts, it may take a little pre- and post-work as well. Review lesson plans beforehand. Before your science class, look through your syllabus and see what you are going to be studying that day. Then, skim through your textbook so you at least have a vague overview of context. Note vocabulary words that you will need to know, and make it a point to look them up before class. Bring helpful materials. Ever feel like youre falling completely behind taking science notes as you try to label all of the parts and copy down all the numbers? You arent alone. If you cant write in your textbook, consider making photocopies of the pages you know you will be going over before class. Then, you wont have to copy down all of the charts and graphs, and you can focus on labeling and writing supplemental notes to help you understand. Re-read your notes right away. As soon as you can after class, review and add to your notes. Was there anything you missed? Any part that was confusing? Remember that the longer you wait to take to look at your notes, the harder it will be to remember what was taught. If you have post-class text assigned, try reading it that night. The concepts will still be fresh in your head and youll thank yourself when you dont have to check your notes every two sentences. [RELATED: What are the High School Science Courses?] 3. Actively read for the details Reading a science book is very different than reading in English class. Typically, science books are full of text features and new terminology with a large number of new facts and details you need to comprehend. Reading for science takes different skills than reading text for other subjects because you arent reading between the lines, but sometimes it can seem like youre reading a different language if you arent sure of the content. Consider reading through the text twice. Once for a general understanding, the next for comprehension. Often, since science can cover such large (or such specific) topics, it takes one read-through just to wrap your head around what the text is even talking about. That first read isnt about memorizing data or getting overwhelmed by details, but to find the main ideas and to begin to understand the relationships in the text. Keep it slow. No matter how many times you read the text, read it at a comfortable pace; try not to rush. There is so much information packed into each paragraph that skipping a sentence or two can leave you completely lost. Carefully pace yourself by summarizing after each page, highlighting, or following along with a pencil as you read and dont forget to take frequent breaks! Any topics you want to know more about?
